El Ayuntamiento de La Fresneda, al igual que otras casas consistoriales en la comarca, se erige hacia finales del siglo XVI, como lo indica la fecha de 1576 inscrita en su fachada, aunque algunas fuentes sugieren que podr\u00eda haber sido construido alrededor de 1590. Esta edificaci\u00f3n representa de manera destacada el surgimiento del nuevo poder municipal que comienza a desafiar a las instituciones tradicionales, personificadas en este caso por la Orden de Calatrava, su castillo y la Casa de la Encomienda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dentro del Ayuntamiento de La Fresneda, se han conservado varios espacios carcelarios que arrojan luz sobre la historia de la prisi\u00f3n en este lugar. En primer lugar, se encuentra un calabozo que fue utilizado para confinar a personas de alto nivel social. Este espacio es especialmente notable por los magn\u00edficos grafitis que se encuentran tanto en el suelo como en las paredes, que atestiguan la experiencia de quienes estuvieron recluidos all\u00ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adem\u00e1s, en la planta baja del edificio, junto a la lonja, se encuentra lo que se conoce como la “c\u00e1rcel de arresto”. Este espacio es otro testimonio de la historia carcelaria de La Fresneda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La arquitectura del Ayuntamiento de La Fresneda muestra una combinaci\u00f3n de elementos g\u00f3ticos y renacentistas. Se caracteriza por tener tres fachadas distintas, cada una adaptada a una funci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica. La fachada principal es la m\u00e1s noble, dise\u00f1ada para albergar eventos importantes y recibir a visitantes. La fachada lateral izquierda se ajusta a la funci\u00f3n de gobierno municipal, mientras que la fachada lateral derecha, m\u00e1s sencilla, cumple un papel fundamental en la prestaci\u00f3n de servicios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El conjunto hist\u00f3rico de la villa de La Fresneda fue reconocido como Bien de Inter\u00e9s Cultural (B.I.C.) en 1983, y este edificio, el Ayuntamiento, tambi\u00e9n ha obtenido la distinci\u00f3n de B.I.C. en el a\u00f1o 2002. Esto destaca su importancia hist\u00f3rica y arquitect\u00f3nica en la regi\u00f3n como un s\u00edmbolo de la evoluci\u00f3n del poder municipal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoy en d\u00eda, el Ayuntamiento de La Fresneda sigue desempe\u00f1ando sus funciones de administraci\u00f3n municipal. En su interior, los visitantes tienen la oportunidad de explorar la antigua c\u00e1rcel y el Centro de Interpretaci\u00f3n del Patrimonio Local de La Fresneda, lo que ofrece una perspectiva \u00fanica de la historia y la herencia de esta encantadora localidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
